What do you like

About the Textbook

In the new English curriculum standards, it says that the stage of basic education of English courses overall goal is to develop students' abilities to use language and enjoy themselves during their learning. Integrated language skills are based on five basic aspects: the students' language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitudes, learning strategies and cultural awareness.

Analysis of the Ss

The grade 4 Ss have some basic knowledge of English, but some of them are not interested in learning this language.

They prefer to learn English in games and some activities. This can attract them and be easier for them to study this language.

Analysis of the Material

The theme of this unit is “What would you like”

It is consists of some new words and vocabulary, like vegetable, hamburger, milk etc.

This material is interesting and vivid. Applying to these new words, it is easier for Ss to understand and then master it.

Teaching Aims

Knowledge object: can learn the new words: “hamburger, vegetable……”and the sentences: “what would you like I “d like……”

Ability object: to develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing.

Emotional abilities: can use the new words and sentences to communicate. Motivate the interests of learning English then develop the

integrated abilities of the Ss.

Key Words and Difficulties

New Words: hot dog, milk, hamburger……

Sentences: I’m hungry. What would you like for dinner I’d like some……

Teaching aids

Computer, Cards, Medium, Chalk.

Teaching method

“Task-based” teaching method. Solving some problems in our daily life.

Developing the creativity, independence and communicative ability of Ss.

“Activity-based” teaching method. Individual, pair, group, class work.

“Communicative-based” teaching method. Let Ss talk and communicate with each other more. Teaching procedure

Warm-up

Sing a song.

Presentation

New vocabulary: hamburger, vegetable, hot dog……

New structure: I’m hungry. What would you like for dinner I’d like some……

Word games: words and cards.

Practice

Pair or group work: dialogue, two or more Ss, in a restaurant,. I’m

Homework

Review new words, phrases, sentences and the text material. Finish exercises. Make up a role-play.
