Imagine的用法
imagine用作vt.时，主要表示“想像”，“设想’，;‘以为”，“认为”，“料想”。两种意思的具体用法是: 一，跟名词
Can you imagine life on the moon? 你能想像月球上的生活情况吗?
Try to imagine the desert on a very hot day. 试着设想一下大热天沙漠上的情况。
二，Imagine 后跟动词时，动词须用动名词的形式。如： Try to imagine being on the moon.设想一下在月球上的情形。 I can’t imagine lying like that. I would go crazy.
She imagined walking into the office and telling everyone what she thought of them.他想象着自己走进办公室并告诉每个人她对他们有何看法这样一幅情景。 在下面一句中，动名词前面出现了逻辑主语：
Can you imagine me my being so stupid?你以为我如此愚蠢吗？
Would you ever have imagined him/his becoming a politician?你想到过他会成为一个政治家吗？ Try to imagine being on the moon. 设想你在月球上。
I can't imagine lying like that. I would go crazy. 我无法想像我那样躺着，我会发疯的。 ---My goodness! I can’t imagine being that old. ——天哪！我很难想象（他能）活那么久。
三，跟名词、形容词、介词短语、to be短语、现在分词等作宾语补足语的复合宾语结构，即imagine+宾语+宾补:
1）imagine+名词/代词+名词
The boy likes to imagine himself a flyer. 那孩子喜欢想象自己是个飞行员。
Charles likes to imagine himself an engineer.(名词作宾补，表状态) 查尔斯喜欢把自己设想成工程师。
2）imagine+名词/代词+形容词
Imagine yourself rich and famous.设想一下你自己既有钱又有名的情形。
I imagine her slight (adj.纤细的，瘦小的)and frail(adj.意志薄弱的) (形容词作宾补，表状态)我把她想像成身体瘦小意志薄弱。
He had never imagined anything so luxurious (adj.奢侈的)(形容词作宾补，表状态) 他从没想像过什么东西会如此奢侈。
3）imagine+名词/代词+介词短语 Imagine yourself in his place.
Imagine yourself in his place.(介词短语作宾补，表状态) 设想你处于他的位置。 4) imagine+名词/代词+分词
I can't imagine you doing anything disgraceful (a街，不光彩的，可耻的) (现在分词作宾补，表主动、正在进行的动作) 我不能想像你会作出什么可耻的事情。
You can imagine the arguments continuing far into the night. (现在分词作宾补，表主动、正在进行的动作) 你能想像出争论持续到深夜的情景。
He imagined himself lying summer evening, buried deep among the weeds beneath the tree.她想象自己在一个夏季的夜晚，躺在树下深密的草丛中。
Can you imagine George cooking the dinner?你能想象乔治做饭的样子吗？ Can you imagine his/him becoming a pilot? 你能想像他成了飞行员吗?
I can hardly imagine Peter sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in five days.我几乎不能想象彼得在五天内就横渡了大西洋。
I can’t imagine myself teaching in front of that many people.我不能想象自己在那么多人面前教书。 Can you imagine Tom’s cooking the dinner himself?你能想象汤姆居然亲自下厨做饭？
5）imagine sb/sth. (to be)… imagine后可以用不定式作宾语补足语
Imagine yourself (to be) rich and famous. (《朗文现代英语双解词典》)
Our producers should constantly imagine themselves to be in the consumer’s position. 我们的生产单位要经常设身处地地为用户着想。（《新英汉词典》）
Imagine yourself （to be） in his place. (《现代英语用法词典》)本文开头提到打那篇文章的作者只引用了一个例证：
Don’t imagine yourself to be always correct. (《英语常用动词用法词典》)而这个例子中，作宾语补足语的不定式还是to be。
Don't imagine yourself to be always correct. (to be短语作宾补，表状态) 不要把自己想像成总是对的。 Please imagine yourself (to be ) in the customer’s position. 请设身处地为顾客着想。 The boy imagined himself (to be)a pilot. 那男孩子喜欢想象自己是一个飞行员。 Please imagine yourself （to be）in his place. 请设想你自己处于他的位置。 He imagines everything to be easy. 他想象一切都是容易的。 He imagined her to be a good physician. 他猜想她是一位好医生。
6）imagine 后跟带有as的宾语补足语
I had imagined you as a big tall man.我原以为你是一个高大个儿。
He imagine himself as the saviour of his country.他把自己想象成为国家的救星。 I imagined him as being older
The girl imagines the gentleman as her father. 这女孩把那位绅士想象成她的父亲。
I imagine our new head teacher as a reasonable man. 我想象新的班主任是一个通情达理的人。 The boy imagines himself becoming a scientist.这孩子想象自己成了科学家。
7)跟从句
I can't imagine what has happened. 我想像不出发生了什么事情。
Can you imagine what it would be Like to live without electricity? 你能设想一下生活中没有电会是什么样的情景吗?
You can imagine the situation there. 你可以想象那里的情况。 I can't imagine what he looks like. 我想象不出他是什么长相。
Mr. Smith couldn’t imagine what had happened at all史密斯不能想到发生了什么事。 I imagine (that) you are very tired. 我猜想你已经很累了吧。
Just imagine how happy she was at that time! 试想一下，她那时有多幸福啊! I don't imagine they will come if it rains.我认为天如果下雨, 他们是不会来的。 I can't imagine that anyone cares what I do. 我想不出谁会关心我的所作所为.

We never imagined that David would become a lawyer. 我们从来没有想象过，大卫居然会成为一名律师。
I imagined that they must have met with a serious problem. 我想准是他们碰到了严重问题。 IMAGINE that you are invited to lunch at Oxford University.设想你被邀请去牛津大学享用午餐。 Nelson imagines that he will be a famous violinist， but he doesn’t practise. 纳尔逊想成为一个有名的小提琴家， 但他就是不练习。
Can you imagine what he is doing now? 你想他现在正在干什么？
I can just imagine what the place is going to look like in a few years.我能想象出这个地方几年后会变成什么样子。
I imagine you will enjoy the film. 我认为你会喜欢这部片子的。 I imagine Tom has eaten all the cake. 我料想汤姆吃完了那块蛋糕。
四，imagine用于这一含义时，若要对宾语从句进行否定，通常将否定词not移至主句，形成“否定转移”: I don't imagine you will enjoy the film. 我认为你不会喜欢这部片子的。 I don't imagine Tom has eaten all the cake.我料想汤姆没有吃完那块蛋糕。
imagine一词用法的试题:
