Ⅱ.Teaching procedure
1. Talk about danger and potential hazards at home.
Ask if any ss have ever had an accident at home.
Talking Talk about what to do in case of emergency.
2.Review vocabulary which is relevant for this
context.eg.
neighbour/ smoke/ rushed/ dangerous/ and
careful.
3.Ss read the articles by yourselves.ask:
Have they heard about such similar incidents?
What happened?
Who had the accident?
Who helped in the emergeney? How did it end?
Reviewing vocabulary
4.Listening
Now, listen to the text, please answer the question: What type is this article? Who is the hero in the text? 5. Reading Ask six ss to read one paragraph each . Confirm the name of the girl,the cause of the accident and the idea of escaping danger.
6.Check
Ask at least six ‘yes’or ‘no’ questions about the article
to check understanding ,eg.,
Was there a lot of smoke? Y
Did Wang Fang go out on 10th May? N
Was there a fire in the kitchen? Y
Discussion Did Wang Fang run out of the building?
(No,she ran to her neighbour’s flat to help him.)
Did the fire burn Wang Fang? Y
Did she stay in hospital for two hours?
(No,she stayed in hospital for two months.)
Ⅲ. Discussion (task)
Ask ss to work out the meanings of new words from context or by using dictionary.
Ⅳ.Extension activity
Write a police report or a diary.
