春节的习俗英文版
The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, is the most important Chinese traditional festival. It has been
celebrated in China for at least 3000 years, which has become a symbol of China's unique culture. As the coming of the Spring Festival, Chinese people get busy with all sorts of traditional customs. Decorating the door lintel with couplets, or Chinese poems, is a way to express people' s best wishes for a better coming year. And red lanterns are hung up to celebrate the festival, which goes hand in hand with Chinese “zìmù”, a kind of calligraphy writing blessings. Gift-giving is another typical activity for the festival. Usually, people will buy each others gifts like snacks,
fruits and money in red envelopes. People usually exchange a few words as they give presents, such as “A happy new year with lots of luck”. Family gathering is the most distinctive feature of the festival. People who work in other cities leave their jobs and hurry home so that they can talk and share meals together on new year's eve. Eating noodles is also an essential part on Chinese New Year's Day, symbolizing a long life. The Dragon Dance and the Lion Dance are two kinds of folk art performances typical of the Spring Festival. The dragon is the symbol of the Chinese nation and the lion
represents the power. Through the performance, people express their hope for good luck and a prosperous year. The Spring Festival is the most important festival of
the year for Chinese families across the world. Multiple traditional customs come together to form a complete reunion and festival mood. The Spring Festival is not only about gatherings, blessings, performances and delicious food, but about transferring a strong Chinese culture.
