The story of Baogong

Long time ago, there was a pathetic boy. His father died and his mother was sick. So he had a very hard life. He had to get up early in the morning everyday, lifting a basket of fritters, ran and said that everyone can use two coppers money to buy one root. One day, he sold out all the fritters, sitting on a piece of rock in wayside,and counted the coppers, exactly at the right number of 100. He sold the fritters and counted the copper money, making the hands with oil,as well as the copper money.He was so happer that he could use the money to buy some medicine foe his mother. Running all the morning, he was so tired at the moment that he fell asleep on the stone by the road. After a long time,he woke up, finding that his money disappeared. He was sad and began to cry.

At the right moment Baozhen happened to pass by the road with two followers. Baozhen was a very smart man who looked very black.He saw the boy crying sadly ,walking to him, and asked him what happened to him. The boy tolded Baozhen that he slept by the stone and found that his money got by selling the fritters was missing when he wake up. Baozhen said that the thief nust be the stone and promised that he would interrogate the stone to make sure the stone would reurn back the money.

Baozhen asked the stone whether it stole the money. Of course, the stone could not answer him. Baozhen asked the same question for several times, but the stone still said nothing. Baozhen was so angry that he would break the stone's dead if the stone was wtill silent.The followers heared this and began to hit the stone, shouting that

the stone should speak quickly. The people there all began to laugh at them. They didn't believe that the stone could steal the money and felt it ridiculous. They said Baozhen was a foolish man instead of a wise one.

Baozhen was angry at what they said and punished them one copper. One of his followers brought a basin full of water. Everyone had to put one copper into the basin. They stood in line and did it one by one. While one man put his pointed at the man and said that he was the thief who has stolen the money.

But nobody could understand what happened. Baozhen explained that only when the man put the copper into the water was there some oil floating up on the water. Of course it was the man who stole the boy’s money.

How wise Baozhen is! It was him who could think of such a good idea to solve the problem and found who was the thief.
