Life of young people in today’s world and those in previous generations in China has conspicuous differences. To begin with, previous generations’ lives were restricted and suppressed. With the influence of traditional culture, they were supposed to do whatever things their parents hoped. Even the marriage was arranged, and usually they were not allowed to choose the people they loved. In contrast, today’s young people’s lives are unconstrained and independent. They are used to doing the opposite things which are against their parent’s will. Also, they have freedom to choose own spouse. Another difference between today’s youth and previous generation is the change of the view of female status. What ingrained deeply in people’s mind is that all woman’s things belong to men, and it is a virtue for women to be ignorant. Those opinions are different from today’s. Nowadays, men and women share the same right, and women get education just like men. The last difference is the way of recreation. Precious young people focused on lyre-playing, chess, calligraphy, and painting, so there were many eminent calligraphers, painters and so on. On the other hand, today we are inclined to go traveling and do sports, also we know many backpackers and athletes. Living at different time means people’s lives are not same anymore.
