Write an essay in which you examine a specific social issue in terms

of how it is currently changing. Use your own esperience and knowledge of the world human nature to build your discussion. In class, we will discuss broad categories of social change in contemporary China. Then you will select a particular social issue within one of these categories about which you care very deeply and with which you have direct personal esperience. Be sure to narrow your topic down to a workable focus. This is not a research assignment-your purpose will be to build your ideas and communicate your perspective on the topic to a general audience. Reflect upon your esperience. Use your esperience and observations(evidence) and logical thinking (analysis) to arrive at strong conclusions.

In your essay, make good use of a variety of rhetorical modes and strategies. Remember that effective writing involves making good choices that fit your particular topic, purpose, audience, and contest. Also, good writing involves balancing ideas and specific, supporting evidence. Finally, whenever needed, consider reasonable opposing view and respond to them chearly. In this way, your treatment of the subject will be more obiective and reasonable.

Follow the same general writing guidelines and criteria that you used in developing your personal essay. I look forward to reading your essays.
