Flamingos are tall birds.

They have pink feathers（羽毛） and pink legs. Flamingos walk through water to find food.

They eat shrimp（虾）， insects， worms， and plants. These birds live in huge groups.

They hold their beaks（啄） under the water to eat. Flamingo chicks are born gray and white.

They turn pink（變成粉红色） when they are about two years old. These birds get their colour from shrimp.

The more shrimp they eat， the brighter pink their feathers turn. Flamingos can swim and fly.

When a flamingo sleeps， it often stands on one leg. It rests its head on its back.
