富士山

富士山は、その美しさゆえに広く世界に知られている日本一高い山です。標高は3,776メートル、日本のほぼ中心部に位置し、たびたび噴火してきました。1707年以降は火山活動を休止していますが、地質学上は活火山です。

富士山は日本三霊山の１つで、古来信仰の対象として崇められてきました。特に江戸時代（1603～1867）には、信仰のための登山が盛んに行われています。
