so...that/such...that与too...to.../enough...to...句型之间的转换

1.too+adj./adv. to+v. “太...而不能做某事”

例：He is too young to go to school. 他年纪太小还不能上学。 2.adj./adv.+enough to +v.“足够...而能做某事”

例：He is old enough to go to school. 他足够大了能上学了/他已到了上学的年龄了。

3.so +adj./adv.+that从句 “如此...以致” 例：He is so old that he can go to school. 4.such+n.+that从句“如此...以致”

He is such a young boy that he can't go to school.

通常来说，这四种句型可用于同义句转换，具体如下：

too...to... =not 反义词 enough to =so...that 否定句 = such...that否定句 例：He is too young to go to school. = He is not old enough to go to school. = He is so young that he can't go to school.

= He is such a young boy that he can't go to school.

1.改为同义句，每空一词。

The questions are too difficult for us to answer.

The questions are ________ difficult for us ________ we can’t answer. 答案：so; that

句意：这些问题太难了，以至于我们回答不了。 解析：too...to...意为“太……而不能”，相当于so...that（that后的从句用否定句）。 2.The teacher was ____ angry with us ____ say a word before leaving. A.so; that B.such; that C.enough; that D.too; to 答案：D

句意：老师对我们是如此的生气以至于一句话没说就走了。

解析：such后接名词，排除B；that后接从句，排除A、C；D符合句意；too...to...意为“太……而不能”。 3.翻译句子，每空一词。 这箱子太重，我搬不动。

The box is ________ heavy ________ I can’t carry it.

It is ________ ________ ________ box ________ I can’t carry it.. 答案：so; that; such; a; heavy;that 句意：（略）

解析：so...that与such...that均意为“太……而不能”，such后接名词，so后接形容词。

4.改为同义句，每空一词。

The book is interesting enough for everybody to read.

The book is ________ interesting ________ everybody likes to read it. 答案：so; that

句意：这本书很有趣，每个人都可以阅读。


解析：enough to 意为“足够...而能做某事”，相当于so...that“如此...以致”。 5.改为同义句，每空一词。

They are so happy that they forget the time.

句意：他们很高兴以至于忘了时间。 解析：so...that“如此...以致”，too...to“太……而不能”，too...to相当于so...that（that后的从句用否定句）。

6.The room is not big ____ for five people ____ live in it.

A.so; that B.such; that C.enough; to D.too; to 答案：C

句意：这屋子太小了，五个人住不下。 解析：that后接从句，排除A、B；too修饰形容词放在形容词前，排除D；enough to 意为“足够...而能做某事”

so … that = enough to do

eg. It was so interesting that I wanted to do that.

= It was interesting enough to make me want to do that.

too… to = so … that (否定)

eg. It was too rainy to go out and play.

= It was so rainy that we couldn’t go out and play.
