What is the purpose of a university education?
When it comes to the purpose of a university education, some people regard it a stage to fulfill their life; others think that a university education is to serve society. Personally, a university education is to help to improve ourselves and to prepare for future careers. [46]
Firstly, a university education helps us to improve ourselves. At universities, we learn many things. For example, before entering universities, we can just use the Internet to chat with others, surf online and look through news; but we are taught how to use software like Microsoft Office, WPS and VFP at college time. One may improve a lot if he can master them thoroughly. Secondly, a university education is to prepare for future careers. We have to study very hard to get a master’s degree, through which you learn a lot. In addition, we choose many elective courses to enrich our mind and widen our scope. We make friends with different people from different places and different fields. We get valuable experiences of getting along well with others.
