记叙文的阅读典例

The Visit

When I was twelve, my grandparents took me with them to visit our ancestors' native village in China. I still remember the experience with undeniable clarity and fondness.

The day we arrived, the locals had prepared an elaborate welcome feast. Tables were set with dishes of different colors and flavors. I was so enthralled with the food that I could hardly take in the unfamiliar surroundings. Grandfather beamed withjoy. He was finally in the place where his family’s roots ran deep into the ground.

After the feast, I accompanied mother and grandfather as we toured the village. They pointed out the house where his parents had lived, as well as the farms where they had grown their crops. I even saw the school my grandfather had attended as a child. Although much had changed, the sights still evoked some of the stories grandfather had told me during my childhood.

The next morning, we met up with some of grandfather’s old friends who had known him as a child. Even though they had aged, they still remembered grandpa and welcomed him warmly. He left them with a few words of gratitude and a gift that he had brought with him-a potted plant.

As we left the village, I look back at what I had seen and experienced. I felt I had made a connection to our past and was able to

understand and appreciate grandfather more than ever. I knew that what he had imprinted on me would remain with me forever.

After our visit, grandma, mother, grandpa and I continued on our journey. We marveled at the sights and breathed in the fresh air of our new destinations. Each experience brought us closer together and memories of the village acted as a comforting reminder of our family origin.

No matter how much time has passed, that trip with my grandparents always seems like yesterday. My visits to our ancestor’s village filled me with pride and were an irreplaceable source of encouragement and love.。
