What do you think of when you hear the words "Girl Scout"? You probably think of things like blue uniforms, and cookies right? Well, that's what Girl Scout is about, but it is also about a lot more. It is about making friends and doing services.

I have been in Girl Scouts for about 8 years now. I have learned a lot of things in my 8 years as a Girl Scout. In my first troop, we sold a lot of cookies. In that troop, I learned the value of friendship. We used to do a lot of camping, and we got to know each other really well. When I left that troop last September, there were only 3 or 4 girls, but we were like sisters. During the 7 years I spent in that troop, we went hiking, camping, and did almost anything you can think of.

Last September, I started in another troop. Girls in that troop were working on the Silver Award, the second highest award in Girl Scouts. Well, I caught up, and I got the award with them. During the process of earning the Award, I learned the value of hard work, patience, and

endurance. I had to work hard to keep up, and to do all the things that they had already done. I did them.

I have to say that I am glad that I joined the new troop. I have learned a lot from them, and I am looking forward to earning the Gold Award, which is the highest award in Girl Scouts.

So, why am I writing this? Well, I just want to show people that no one in Girl Scouts is a fool, and that you just might like it if you decide to join. To be a girl scout is both work and play, and most people like it. If you are a girl who is 5 to 7 years old, join it! If you are a baby who is 5 to 12, join the Cub Scouts. If you are a boy who is 13 to 18, join the Boy Scouts, you will be surprised at how much you like it.

And to those of us who are already scouts, keep up the great work!
