The Story of Foolish Old Man Removes the Mountains Once upon a time, there was an old man named Yu Gong who lived in China. He had two big mountains near his house that obstructed his way to the north. One was called Taihang Mountain and the other Wangwu Mountain.

Yu Gong"s family kept telling him that he was too old to move the mountains, but he was determined to do so anyway. He believed that if he worked hard enough, he could level the mountains and create a path for his family and future generations.

One day, he announced his plan to his family and set out with his sons to start digging away at the mountains. People all around them thought they were crazy and laughed at them. But Yu Gong did not waver from his goal.

A wise man named Yue Nu saw what Yu Gong was doing and came to visit him. He told Yu Gong that he was foolish and that he would never be able to move the mountains. But Yu Gong replied, "Even if I can"t finish the task, my children will continue it, and their children after them. With perseverance and determination, we will eventually succeed."

Moved by Yu Gong"s determination, the gods decided to help

him. They sent two divine beings who lifted the mountains away and created a path for Yu Gong and his family to travel through. Yu Gong"s persistence and unwavering spirit have become a symbol of determination and hard work in Chinese culture. His story teaches us that no matter how impossible a task may seem, with perseverance and determination, it can be accomplished.。
