Camel
The camel is a large animal that lives in and around desert areas. It is known as the ‘ship of the desert’ because it can travel across deserts as easily as ships sail on water. Nature has equipped it well for the purpose.

It appears to do well without food and water for many days at a stretch. It has a very large bag in its stomach, where it can store enough food for

Like horses and elephants, man has been able to domesticate camels as well. In India, it is most commonly found in Rajasthan. It is used for transportation, to carry loads, for ploughing fields and for drawing water.
Camels have long, curved necks and a high hump. Arabian camels have only one hump while Bactrian camels have two humps. It is a kind and gentle animal and has proved to be a good friend to man. Some people who stay in deserts drink camel’s milk.
