worth, worthy及worthwhile用法讲解

1. worth prep./n.

(1) 介词

①值得做；应该做

be worth doing/sth be well worth doing/sth it be worth doing sth

e.g. The museum is worth a visit. e.g. It’s worth checking the detail before you sign it. ②值…钱

be worth sth e.g. be worth a fortune 价值连城 ③搭配 be worth it

be worth the time/effort/work be worth sb’s while to do/doing sth

e.g. It might be worth your while to talk to your parents. (2) 名词

①意义，价值(value)

e.g. He has proved his worth. ②价值…钱的…



e.g. thousands of dollar’s worth of damage

2. worthwhile adj.

(1) 重要的；值得做的

e.g. a worthwhile cause 慈善事业 (2) 句型 It is worthwhile to do/doing sth e.g. It is worthwhile to tell her what is wrong and what is right.

e.g. It wasn’t worthwhile continuing with the project.

3. worthy adj./n.

(1) 形容词

①值得尊敬的

e.g. a worthy opponent ②值得…的

e.g. be worthy of mention e.g. be worthy of respect ③助人的

e.g. I’m sure his motives were

worthy.

e.g. a worthy cause ④相媲美的

e.g. I’m not worthy.

e.g. a goal that was worthy of any of great footballers of the world ⑤短语

e.g. The book is worthy of being

read. (2) 名词 知名人士 e.g. a group of local worthies

4. worth, worthy及worthwhile替换 (1) be worth sth=be worthy of sth

(2) be worth doing=be worthy of being done/be worthy to be done

(3) sth is worth doing=it is worthwhile to do/doing sth=it is worth sb’s while to do/doing sth
