英语中表示“许多、大量”含义的词和短语归纳
一、修饰可数名词：
1) many，a great／good many，a great／ large number of，scores of，dozens of
2) the number of 表示“ .....的数目’’，谓语动词用单数
二、修饰不可数名词：
1) much，a great deal of，a large amount of eg. There is a great deal of snow on the ground ． 2)the amount of．．．作主语，谓语动词用单数 eg. The amount of money spent on the bridge was large． large amounts of．．．作主语，谓语动词用复数形式。 eg. Large amounts of money were spent on the bridge
三、修饰可数/不可数名词均可：
1)a lot of，lots of，plenty of，a great／large／small quantity of， A lot of ／ Lots of people( 可数 ) went swimming yesterday. A lot of ／ Lots of work( 不可数 ) is to be done this week. 2)注意 a quantity of 的语动词。后跟不可数名词谓语动词用单数；后跟可数名词谓语动词用复数。 A small quantity of water is needed．
There are a large quantity of flowers in the garden ．
3)great／large quantities of 后跟可数名词复数 /不可数名词，谓语动词都用复数。
Large quantities of food were on the table．
