Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen. Good afternoon. It is my great honor to be here to give you a speech. My topic today is smoking should be banned completely in all countries. First of all, please let me take the chance present to you a set of data that I hope won’t bore you since the source is from china daily. That is nearly half of the China's 1.3 billion population are suffering from passive smoking. Additionally, China already has 350 million smokers aged 15 and above, or one in every three smokers in the world and more than one third people died in lung cancer simply caused by smoking. According to experts, this number will grow to 20% in the coming ten years. Shocked by the fact, we can not be more sensitive to the essential meanings behind these numbers. They mean illness sufferings and mortality.

Referring to the appalling results, we can readily come to the conclusions as follows

Firstly, Smoking is detrimental to the health of both smokers and nonsmokers and is a threat to public health especially children and women .most smokers may not be


aware of the negative influence on the people around them. Have you ever thought about that every time when you are enjoying the large charge of smoking, your family members are suffering the ordeal of secondhand smoke? Have you ever imaged that Smoking whilst pregnant will cause developmental delay in your unborn child? Faced with such a serious existing situation, how can you falsely stick to the deleterious habit?

Secondly, smoking definitely can trigger many kinds of cancer, which are fatal threats to smoker’s health. Lung cancer, coronary heart disease, stroke, and respiratory problems are just a few of the scary illnesses identified to be smoking related. What’s more, every year there are more than one third people died in lung cancer simply caused by smoking in china. Confronted with the shocking figures, how could you addict yourself to the short-lived exultation at the expense of your meaningful life?

Lastly, smoking has a largely affect on our society in the area of environmental problems. Smoking obviously pollutes the fresh air. Additionally, cigarette butts increase the risks of having incidental fire, which may be an open invent to the security of properties and lives. Taking on such a crucial


responsibility, how can you have the courage to fire the cigarette?

In the sense of comprehensive vision, Smoking should be banned once and for all in all countries. Smoking negatively affects our society through environmental problems and especially the health risk of smokers and nonsmokers. Meanwhile, we are obliged to take on the incumbency to maintain a healthiness society .please give up smoking for the sake of the public, for the sake of your health and especially for the sake of your family .thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
