Protect China’s Food Security Together

China's food security, whose concept consists of three parts, including: ensuring enough food's being produced, maintaining the stability of the food supplement as much as possible, and guaranteeing that most individuals in need could get sufficient food. There is a Chinese proverb: Food is the first necessity of people. Not only is Chinese food security vitally interrelated to both people's health and degree of happiness, but it also plays an essential role in harmony of our society, security of our politics, and sustainable development of our economy. And that's the indispensable trigger why China has always attached great importance to food security.

As a country with large food production and large population, China's food security is still faced with quite a few challenges. The first problem is the growing population, which brings growing need of food and imbalance distribution. What's worse, with the environment being worn out by people, the weather problem is getting more and more serious, posing a great threat to our farmland. Besides, other factors we can't ignore, such as financial factors, social factors are also of great importance to protecting food security.

Given that China's food security is highly associated with all of us, we should make joint efforts to its maintenance. To begin with, it is significant for the government to take measures to protect the food-producing environment, such as protecting farmland, avoiding those severe air pollution and water contamination which would result in polluted food and do harm to people's health. Only with strict supervision could they ensure the safety and good quality of food production.

Furthermore, high technique should be explored to increase the efficiency of food production, so the adequate funding is a must. The best way to protect China's food security is to apply the high technology to production, for one thing, technology saves much cost, and enhance the output to meet the growing demand. For another, high technology is environmentally friendly and accordant to the concept of sustainable development.

The government alone is still not enough. Although our life is becoming richer, everybody should cultivate a consciousness of cherishing the food. It's supposed to eat up all the food in every meal. If not, don't leave the leftovers in the restaurant and we should pack them in a doggy bag. As college students, we can also help to publicize knowledge about food security, let a growing awareness that food security is of great importance and call on individuals to take action.

Last but not least, we should actively respond to the government's call and jointly oversee the food production and circulation. Provided that we encounter someone who is wasting food, it is unreasonable to stand idly by. Faced with those who are producing food in violation of safety regulations, not only shall we say no to their products, but we also ought to report these situations to the government.

China's food security is no sparrow matter, and everyone holds the obligation to do what he can to safeguard it and foster a sound social atmosphere together. Many hands make light work. I sincerely hope food security will benefit every Chinese and all of us live a happy life.
