Smoking should be illegal
Smoking is extremely a bad behavior which is not only harmful to the smoker but also bad for people around him. Obviously, smoking should be illegal.
To begin with, smoking is harmful to the smoker himself. Smoking is not only one significant reason of causing cancer but also a serious damage to memories. A large-scale research which contained over one million citizens has been done among America, British and Canada. The research showed that people who smoke are 11 times possibly getting cancer than those who don't. Scientists of University of Aberdeen in Scotland had made some quizzes for 465 folks. Half of the people were heavy smokers, and obviously, from the test they drew a conclusion that smokers were more easily forget something. Secondly，making cigarettes adds stress on the environment. In one hour companies that make cigarettes use almost four miles ofpaper for rolling and packaging of the cigarettes. Just to produce 300 cigarettes one tree is being wasted. Energy and water is also being wasted when making cigarettes. After people throw their finished cigarette on the ground, it will take about 25-26 years to decompose. The chemical wastes from the companies are also dumped into the soil, which is very bad for our environment.
As saying goes “Money can't do everything, but you certainly can't do everything without money”. Certainly, smoking also costs lots of money, not only personal but also social. For a person, if he smokes a pack of cigarettes a day, and we suppose the price of it is 10, then he needs to cost 3650 a year. Almost you can buy a laptop. For the society, it must invest capital into lean healthcare to take care of people. The more smokers, the more expense.
But the opposite holds that we shouldn’t make smoking be illegal because it promotes the employment. However, I think if people don’t smoke and lots money will be saved. If we could just get to wise use them to pull the other related industries development, then the employment can be easily increased.
In short, smoking is really harmful and now it has been a kind of social phenomenon. In order to prevent it worse, we must make it be illegal.
