Having read the first chapter many times,I find I can pick up many beautiful and reasonable sentences which deserve us to recite.In a word,the more I read,the more I like it.But when it comes to what is most impressive to me, I think it's not the fancy scenery,nor the mysterious figures,but thesimple words which Nick's father told him.So let's repeat the sentence and learn from it.
The sentence is"Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone,just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you have had."I could clearly remember when I first read it，it confused me for a long time.Why can't we criticize others because of their failure?But when I read further,I gradually make sense of this sentence.It turns out to teach us to become a lenient person. There is no doubt that everyone in the world will have his own advantage and disadvantage.We can never criticizeothers for the single aspects. What’s more, maybe what you are good at is what he is weak in.There is no sense comparing your advantages to others’ disadvantages. On the contrary,we should help them as possible as we can."All the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you have had."It tells us a real principle of life and once we obey this,we will gain a lot!
Just like Nick, what’s more, he obeyed the principle and reserved all judgements to others . As a result, he made many friends who are different from the ordinary people. And more and more people were willing to open their hearts.And it’s nothing but the principle that brings him great success.So keep the sentence in mind,and you will make a real difference!
