There are still many problems of en vir onmen tal protecti on in rece nt years. One of the most serious problems is the serious polluti on of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetati on had bee n greatly reduced with the rapid growth of moder n cities.

To protect the en vir onment, gover nments of many coun tries have done a lot. Legislative steps have bee n in troduced to con trol air pollutio n, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any en viro nmen tal polluti on. Therefore, gover nments are playi ng the most importa nt role in the en viro nmen tal protecti on today.

In my opinion, to protect en vir onment, the gover nment must take eve n more con crete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importa nee of en vir onmen tal protecti on through educati on. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the populati on pla nning policy into practice, because more people means more people means more polluti on. Fin ally, those who destroy the en vir onment in te ntio nally should be severely puni shed. We should let them know that destro ying en vir onment means destro ying mankind themselves.

我的看法是，为了保护环境，政府应当采取更具体的措施。首先，应当通 过教育的方法使人们充分謒到环境保护的重要性。第二，应更加努力把计划生 育政策付诸实施，因为人口多就意味着污染严重。最后，要严惩那些故意破坏 环境者。使他们破坏环境就是毁灭人类自己。
